A new coin.
This Bolivia 200 Pesos silver coin, issued in 1979, commemorates the International Year of the Child, a United Nations initiative promoting children's rights and welfare. The obverse depicts three children in traditional clothing performing music: a girl playing a stringed instrument, a smaller child holding panpipes and a boy playing a drum. Their detailed garments, headwear and expressive poses are accompanied by the denomination, date and UNICEF-related emblems. The reverse features Bolivia's national coat of arms, with a condor spreading its wings above an oval shield containing a mountain, rising sun, alpaca, palm tree and agricultural landscape. Ten stars and the inscription REPUBLICA DE BOLIVIA complete the design. The 1979 initiative raised international awareness of children's education, protection and well-being. Struck in silver with a Proof finish, this KM-198 coin is certified PCGS PR70, the highest numerical grade. A charming collectible celebrating childhood, music and Bolivian heritage.
