The Bulgaria 5 Leva silver commemorative coin issued in 1973 is dedicated to the September Anti-Fascist Uprising of 1923, an event that occupies a central place in Bulgaria’s twentieth-century political narrative. The reverse shows a detailed relief composition of revolutionary fighters advancing together. The circular inscription “СЕПТЕМВРИЙСКО АНТИФАШИСТКО ВЪСТАНИЕ” frames the scene, and the year “1923” is clearly engraved at the bottom.

The obverse bears the emblem of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria. A rampant lion is placed at the center within a wreath of wheat ears, topped by a five-pointed star. Below the emblem appear the dates “681” and “1944,” integrated into the heraldic design. Around the rim runs the inscription “НАРОДНА РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ,” while the denomination is written in words as “ПЕТ ЛЕВА,” with the mint year “1973” beneath.
