The 1984 Bulgaria 10 Leva “Winter Olympic Games – Downhill Skiing” silver coin celebrates the XIV Winter Olympics held in Sarajevo. The obverse depicts a downhill skier captured in a dynamic descent, leaning forward with bent knees, gripping ski poles and carving a curved line through the snow. The skier’s suit, gloves and boots are precisely detailed, while the wide circular border is decorated with repeating snowflake motifs. The inscription “XIV Зимни Олимпийски Игри” completes the winter theme.
On the reverse, the emblem of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria appears at the top, showing the lion within a wreath of wheat and laurel, topped by a star. Surrounding it is the inscription Народна Република България. The date 1984 and denomination 10 ЛЕВА are placed at the bottom, flanked by stylized ski-torch symbols that reinforce the Olympic identity. The entire design is framed again with the snowflake ornament.
Struck in silver with an exceptional Proof finish and graded NGC PF68 Ultra Cameo, the coin exhibits strong contrast and razor-sharp detail. It is an outstanding addition for collectors of Olympic history, winter sports themes and high-grade Bulgarian numismatics.
