The 1984 Bulgaria 10 Leva “Winter Olympic Games – Downhill Skier” silver coin commemorates the XIV Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, celebrating the grace and intensity of alpine skiing. The obverse features a skier captured in a sharp downhill turn, leaning forward with tightly gripped ski poles and skis cutting through the slope. The athlete’s winter gear—helmet, gloves, boots and insulated suit—is carefully detailed. Encircling the scene is a decorative ring of stylized snowflakes, paired with the inscription “XIV Зимни Олимпийски Игри”, forming a refined winter-themed frame.
The reverse showcases the emblem of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria, with the heraldic lion enclosed in a wreath of wheat and laurel and crowned with a star. The inscription Народна Република България curves above the emblem. Below it are the date 1984 and denomination 10 ЛЕВА, flanked by two Olympic torch motifs. The snowflake border continues on this side, unifying both elements of the design.
The coin is struck in silver with an exceptional Proof finish and certified PCGS PR69DCAM, offering deep mirror fields and frosted reliefs close to perfection. This is one of the finest collectible examples of Bulgaria’s Olympic commemorative series, ideal for enthusiasts of winter sports and high-grade numismatics.
