The 2005 Bulgaria 10 Leva “Torino Winter Olympics – Short Track” coin celebrates the excitement and precision of one of the most dynamic Olympic disciplines. The obverse features a dramatic image of a short-track speed skater captured in full motion, leaning into a turn with extended arm and aerodynamic posture. Behind the athlete are curved racing lines symbolizing speed, rhythm, and the oval track. Around the composition runs the inscription “ХХ ЗИМНИ ОЛИМПИЙСКИ ИГРИ,” and at the bottom the date 2006, marking the Torino Games for which the coin was issued.
The reverse displays the official coat of arms of Bulgaria with two lions supporting a crowned shield, enriched by the elegant ribbon marked 1879. Below appear the year 2005 and denomination 10 ЛЕВА, framed by the inscription “БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА.” The deep black proof field creates a striking contrast with the polished silver relief.
This commemorative issue highlights Bulgaria’s participation in the Olympic movement and the global celebration of winter sports. Struck in silver with a flawless mirrored finish and certified PCGS PR67DCAM, the coin appeals to collectors of Olympic memorabilia, modern Bulgarian coinage, and dynamic sports-themed designs. A vibrant piece of Olympic history in numismatic form.
