This 1992 Bulgaria 100 Leva “Radetsky Steamship” proof silver coin pays tribute to one of the most powerful symbols of Bulgaria’s national revival—the legendary steam liner Radetsky, inseparably connected with Hristo Botev and the revolutionary events of 1876. The obverse features a detailed engraving of the ship, including its multi-deck structure, paddle wheels, lifeboats, rigging, masts and fluttering flag. Above the vessel appears the inscription „Корабът Радецки“, while 1876 marks the year of Botev’s heroic commandeering of the ship. At the bottom, the design includes a scroll with ribbon, symbolizing the written legacy of the Bulgarian liberation movement.
The reverse presents an ornate wreath of rose blossoms, buds, leaves and tied ribbon, encircling the inscriptions „Република България“, 100 Лева, and 1992. This example displays attractive natural toning across the fields and reliefs, enhancing the depth and texture of the proof strike. The mirrored surfaces and crisp frosted elements highlight the precision of the engraving. A historically meaningful and visually striking coin, it is an excellent choice for collectors of Bulgarian heritage, maritime history, and world proof silver commemoratives.
