The Bulgaria 2 Leva 1966 coin commemorates the 1050th anniversary of the death of Saint Kliment Ochridsky, one of the most influential figures of medieval Bulgarian culture and Orthodox spirituality. The obverse features a solemn full-figure depiction of Saint Kliment, rendered in elongated medieval style. His robes, halo and calm expression emphasize his role as a teacher, scholar and founder of the Ohrid Literary School. The surrounding inscriptions bear his name — Климент Охридски, alongside the dates 916 and 1966, linking the historical moment to its modern commemoration.
The reverse shows the denomination 2 ЛЕВА framed by four decorated panels with geometric and interlaced patterns inspired by medieval manuscript ornaments. Above appears the inscription Народна Република България, completing the composition with national identity. Struck in CuNi and graded PCGS MS65, the piece offers attractive toning and sharp detail, making it an important collectible for those interested in religious, educational and historical themes in Bulgarian numismatics.
