The 1992 Belize 5 Dollars silver coin “50th Anniversary of El Alamein” was issued to commemorate one of the key battles of World War II. The obverse presents Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, commander of the German Afrika Korps, depicted in uniform holding binoculars. In the background is a detailed artillery scene with soldiers at a cannon, symbolizing the North African campaign of 1942. Along the upper rim is the inscription “50th ANNIVERSARY OF EL ALAMEIN”, with the dual dates 1942–1992 and the denomination “5 DOLLARS” below. The reverse shows a right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a diadem, accompanied by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II” and “BELIZE 1992.” Struck in proof silver, this issue belongs to Belize’s international commemorative series, combining refined engraving with historical themes. Certified examples, such as PCGS-graded proofs, are highly valued among collectors of world coins and military history numismatics.
