A new coin.
The 1980 Belize 10 Cents coin, struck in copper-nickel and graded PCGS PL70, represents a perfect example of numismatic artistry. The obverse displays the detailed Coat of Arms of Belize, surrounded by a wreath of 25 leaves. At its top stands a mahogany tree, while the shield below shows the country’s history: one section with saw and axe, another with axe and paddle, and the lower with a sailing ship. Two supporters frame the shield — a man with an axe on the left and another with a paddle on the right. At the base, a scroll carries the motto “SUB UMBRA FLOREO” (“Under the Shade I Flourish”), with the inscription “BELIZE” above and the year 1980 below. The reverse features the exotic Long-Tailed Hermit bird, perched delicately among branches and leaves, with its elegant long tail feathers curving below. The denomination “10 CENTS” is placed above, with a dotted rim encircling the design. This issue, struck in Prooflike finish and preserved in flawless PL70 quality by PCGS, is an exceptional rarity. A superb piece for world coin collectors, nature-themed series enthusiasts, and those seeking certified perfection.
