The 1974 Belize 1 Cent bronze coin, graded PCGS PR70RD DCAM, is a flawless Proof issue that perfectly embodies the national heritage of Belize. The obverse carries the Coat of Arms of Belize, encircled by a wreath of 25 leaves. At the top rises a mahogany tree, emblem of the country’s timber wealth. The shield within is divided into three parts: one shows a saw and axe, another an axe crossed with a paddle, and the lower section depicts a sailing ship, symbol of maritime trade. Supporting the shield are two male figures — on the left a woodcutter with an axe, on the right a man with a paddle — representing forestry and navigation. Beneath, on a scroll, is the national motto “SUB UMBRA FLOREO” (“Under the Shade I Flourish”), with “BELIZE” above and the date 1974 below. The reverse design features two Swallow-Tailed Kites in flight beneath the inscription “ONE CENT”, their wings wide open, symbolizing elegance and freedom. The dotted rim frames the scene in balance. Struck in bronze with a deep cameo Proof finish, this coin is certified PR70RD DCAM by PCGS — the highest grade possible. It is a true jewel for collectors of Belizean coinage and certified world numismatics.
