The Belarus 20 rubles silver coin “Hansa – Polotsk” (2011) celebrates the historic role of the city of Polotsk as a member of the Hanseatic League. On the obverse, the composition is dominated by the word “HANSA” above, with a sailing ship under full sails symbolizing trade and cultural exchange. To the left, the national emblem of Belarus is inscribed with “РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ 2011,” while below appear the denomination 20 rubles and the hallmark Ag 925. Alongside the ship, heraldic symbols, a trident, and stylized ornaments emphasize the maritime theme of the League. The reverse depicts a vivid view of Polotsk: in the background stand ancient city walls, towers, and the majestic Cathedral of Saint Sophia. In the foreground, merchants in traditional dress negotiate at the market, surrounded by barrels, tables, and goods, while to the left a shield shows a ship as the city’s emblem. The inscription “ПОЛАЦК” crowns the upper part of the design. Struck in sterling silver with Prooflike quality and certified PR69DCAM by PCGS, this coin is a remarkable tribute to Belarusian heritage and European trade history.
