The Belarus 20 Roubles 2004 silver coin commemorates the Brest Hero Fortress, one of the most symbolically important sites connected with the opening phase of World War II in Eastern Europe. Struck in Proof and certified PR69 PCGS, this issue combines sharp engraving with contrasting textures to create a powerful visual narrative.
The obverse presents a dramatic composition featuring a large five-pointed star divided into textured sectors. At its center is the inscription “БРЭСЦКАЯ КРЭПАСЦЬ-ГЕРОЙ”. Below, a relief of a soldier leaning forward in a defensive pose evokes the well-known monument at Brest Fortress. To the right, a brick wall pattern reinforces the architectural and historical theme, while the ground beneath the soldier shows uneven terrain rendered with fine detail.
The reverse features the Order of the Patriotic War, shown with a red enameled star, radiating silver rays, and the hammer-and-sickle emblem inside a golden ring. Above is the coat of arms of the Republic of Belarus with the inscription РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ curving along the rim. The year 2004 and the denomination ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ appear below, accompanied by the silver hallmark Ag925. The polished fields give strong contrast to the colored central element.
This commemorative issue stands out for its detailed artistry and historical significance, making it a meaningful addition to any collection of modern Eastern European numismatics.
