A new medal.
This 1930 Bavarian silver medal, designed by renowned German medallist Karl Goetz, commemorates Blieskastel and its religious heritage. Cataloged as Kienast-445 and certified PCGS MS62, this Weimar-era medal features exceptionally detailed sculptural relief. One side portrays the crowned Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child atop an ornate pedestal, surrounded by pilgrims, including a kneeling woman, child, working man with hammer, and praying figures. The inscription and date 1930 frame the composition. The opposite side depicts the sorrowful Virgin Mary cradling the lifeless Christ beneath radiant rays, flanked by two heraldic shields and the inscription BLIESKASTEL. The imagery reflects the town's longstanding Catholic pilgrimage traditions and devotion to the Virgin Mary. An appealing historical collectible combining religious symbolism, expressive artistry, and Karl Goetz's distinctive medallic craftsmanship.
