Germany 1928 Transatlantic Flight Bremen commemorative silvered medal honors one of the defining aviation achievements of the early 20th century — the successful east-to-west Atlantic crossing of the aircraft Bremen. The obverse displays four overlapping male profiles in high-relief Art Deco style, representing the legendary crew connected with the historic expedition. The figures wear detailed aviation helmets, cold-weather caps, and flight uniforms with carefully engraved facial expressions and clothing folds. Around the portraits runs the inscription “FITZ MAURICE VON HUNEFELD KOHL,” framed by a decorative dotted border and small separators. The reverse features the Bremen monoplane soaring above the Atlantic Ocean beneath dramatic clouds, symbolizing innovation, determination, and the spirit of exploration. Encircling the scene is the inscription “EIN WILLE EINE TAT EIN SIEG BREMEN 13. APRIL 1928,” commemorating the triumphal flight and its historic date.
The medal celebrates aviation pioneer Ehrenfried Günther Freiherr von Hünefeld together with pilot Hermann Köhl, whose daring nonstop journey became a milestone in international aviation history. Certified PCGS SP65, this attractive piece combines historical significance, brilliant reflective surfaces, and strong collector appeal. An excellent addition for collectors of German medals, aviation history, Art Deco exonumia, and early aircraft memorabilia.
