The 1980 Barbados 25 Dollars silver coin was issued to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Caribbean Development Bank (1970–1980), an institution established to support economic growth and regional cooperation among Caribbean nations. The reverse of the coin presents a bold design: at the center a stylized map of the Americas with the Caribbean islands prominently shown, accompanied by the inscription “CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT BANK”. Below the globe waves the national flag of Barbados, bearing the iconic trident emblem, while around the rim runs the commemorative legend “1970 – TENTH ANNIVERSARY – 1980” and the denomination 25 DOLLARS. The obverse features the official coat of arms of Barbados, with the shield depicting a bearded fig tree, flanked by a dolphin and a pelican, topped with a knight’s helmet and crossed sugar cane stalks, and the motto “PRIDE AND INDUSTRY”. Struck in proof quality silver, this commemorative coin is a symbol of unity, development, and the pride of an independent Barbados. A true rarity and desirable collector’s item.
