The 1983 Barbados 25 Dollars silver coin was struck to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse proudly features the national coat of arms of Barbados: a shield with the bearded fig tree, supported by a pelican and a dolphin, topped with a knight’s helmet and crossed sugar cane stalks as crest. The ribbon below carries the motto Pride and Industry, while the inscription Barbados and the split date 19–83 appear with trident symbols. The reverse, where the denomination 25 Dollars is inscribed, is dedicated to royal regalia: St. Edward’s Crown at the top, the Sovereign’s Orb below, and two crossed ceremonial sceptres forming the central design. Around the border runs the inscription 30th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II Coronation with the dual years 1953 – 1983. This issue not only celebrates a key event in British royal history but also highlights Barbados’s role within the Commonwealth. Struck in silver to a brilliant proof finish, it is an admired collectible for its artistry, symbolism, and rarity among royal commemorative issues.
