The Bahrain State Coinage set of 1965–1969 contains 8 denominations — 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 fils — and represents the Kingdom’s first unified modern coinage. The averses carry the key visual motifs of the series: the date palm tree framed by inscriptions and dates (1–100 fils), the dhow ship sailing beside a palm for the 250 fils FAO commemorative, and the distinguished portrait of Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa on the 500 fils Isa Town coin. The reverses present the values in large numerals with bilingual inscriptions “BAHRAIN / البحرين.” On the 250 fils, the reverse features the FAO emblem with wheat ear and motto FIAT PANIS above the denomination, while the 500 fils reverse shows the national coat of arms with shield and the inscription “ISA TOWN.” Together, these coins embody Bahrain’s identity through symbols of agriculture, maritime heritage, modernization and leadership. Struck in bronze, copper-nickel and silver, the set is a rare and essential highlight of Gulf numismatics.
