The set of pure silver Proof coins released by the Mint of Perth in 2015 is dedicated to the Year of the Goat. Coins of such a high coinage grade are usually produced in limited editions and so they have a great value among collectors. The perfect surface of the Proof coins is a result of the special mintage technology used in their production. The second Lunar series continues the idea of the first one decorating coins by the signs of the Chinese zodiac, but the number of animals has been increased. The coin celebrating the Year of Goat depicts an entire family of three Goats (two adults and a cub) surrounding by the grass and branches. One should be impressed by the texture of Goats’ long hair and small details of their appearances. Next to the animals there is a Chinese character for “Goat” and the inscription in English stating the theme of the coin. The obverse bears the relief profile of HM the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley. Her effigy is different from the previous series of commemorative coins as far as it repeats the real face of Elizabeth II of recent years. Around the portrait there is a circle of inscriptions explaining the country of origin, face value of the coin, then the year of issue, weight and purity of the silver alloy. The set consists of three coins in denominations of 50 cents, 1 and 2 dollars, weighting ½, 1 and 2 Oz respectively. The items are packed in a transparent capsules and the beautiful red box along with the colorful certificate.
