The Australia 1 Dollar Lunar Series I Year of the Rooster 2005 silver coin, graded MS69 by PCGS, is an exceptional piece from the Perth Mint’s celebrated first Lunar program. Struck in .999 fine silver, it honors the Rooster — the tenth sign of the Chinese zodiac, symbolizing confidence, vigilance, and hard work. The reverse presents a proud rooster standing on the ground, with finely engraved plumage, strong legs, and an upright crest. Behind it appear stylized clouds and flowering plants, adding balance and elegance to the scene. To the right is the Chinese character for “Rooster,” while the year 2005 and the inscription 1oz 999 SILVER are placed along the rim.
The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, her portrait surrounded by the legend: ELIZABETH II – AUSTRALIA – 1 DOLLAR.
As part of the Lunar Series I (1999–2010), this release carries both cultural and historical significance. Its superb strike, nearly perfect preservation with MS69 grade, and the prestigious PCGS certification make it a highly desirable piece for collectors of world silver coins and Lunar issues.
