The Armenia 100 Dram silver coin issued in 2010 pays tribute to Teodor Axentowicz (1859–1938), a renowned Polish-Armenian painter, professor and rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, whose works blended impressionism, symbolism and national romanticism. The obverse of the coin shows a vibrant colored reproduction of one of his most recognized paintings portraying a woman’s face framed with flowers, rendered with fine detail and rich tones. Inscriptions Republic of Armenia and the denomination 100 Dram with the year 2010 and coat of arms are also present in the design. The reverse presents a finely engraved portrait of Teodor Axentowicz, accompanied by his facsimile signature, life years 1859–1938 and the inscription of his name in English, with a background of a winter landscape and church architecture. Struck in proof silver and certified PR70 Deep Cameo by PCGS, this issue represents the highest quality of preservation. The coin beautifully unites the world of fine art and numismatics, making it a rare piece for collectors of Armenian commemorative coins, painter tributes and international art-themed silver proofs.
