The Anguilla 4 Dollars 1970 silver coin is a rare maritime-themed issue celebrating the island’s heritage and resilience. On the obverse, the design features the magnificent sailing ship Atlantic Star, a three-masted clipper depicted with full sails unfurled as it traverses the waves. Clouds drift in the background, while seabirds circle above, giving the scene a sense of movement and freedom. Below the ship is the inscription “Atlantic Star”, while the legend “Government of Anguilla” encircles the upper rim, framed by decorative palm branches. The reverse displays the coat of arms of Anguilla, divided into panels with a conch shell, radiant sun, and ocean waves — all crowned by a flourishing tree. A leaping dolphin on the right and a swan on the left flank the shield, reinforcing the symbolism of endurance and vitality. The motto “Strength and Endurance” appears on a ribbon below, together with the dates May 30 – July 11, 1967, commemorating the island’s revolution. Struck in silver with prooflike brilliance and graded PR67 by PCGS, this coin is a beautiful representation of Anguilla’s seafaring legacy and its struggle for identity.
